Xi Omega Chapter History
On October 1, 1923 the illustrious Xi Omega (ΞΩ) Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was chartered by seven distinguished gentlemen who collectively and corporately came together in Muskogee, OK.
At the time of Xi Omega's inception, a charter member (Brother J. Alston Atkins- an Attorney) was the present 9th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Another charter member (Brother George Lythcott - a Physician) was the past Grand Keeper of Seals (now the office is the Grand Keeper of Finance). The other notable distinguished charter members were Brother Carter Walker Wesley (Attorney), Brother Charles A. Chandler (Attorney), Brother George Patrick Alphonse Forde (Physician), Brother J. J. McKeever (Dentist) and Brother J.S. Wilkinson (Businessman).
In 1933, Xi Omega (ΞΩ) Chapter was reassigned to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The legacy of ΞΩ Chapter has been a steadfast force in the Tulsa community. Xi Omega has a rich history of outstanding service. Below are notable achievements and contributions made by brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Tulsa. From the birth of Xi Omega Chapter, Omega has populated the state of Oklahoma with other outstanding chapters [ΦΨ, ΗΙ, ΡΙ (relocated-Danville, VA), ΥΙ, ΨΥ, ΠΦ (inactive), ΠΔ, ΣΚ, ΚΖ (inactive), ΟΛ and ΓΜΜ (inactive).
The enduring legacy of Xi Omega is still a force in Tulsa today. Xi Omega has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the Tulsa area. Xi Omega executed two major annual events, the 25th Annual Dwayne Etienne Fish Fry and 19th Annual Nathaniel Goodman Scholarship Golf Tournament. For over a century, Xi Omega has exemplified the Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift—mentoring youth, advancing education, and building bridges of opportunity throughout Tulsa and beyond.
